The Robot Film Festival, first mentioned here nearly three months ago, took place over the weekend of July 16th & 17th, concluding with an awards ceremony. Despite the relatively short time between the announcement of the event and the deadline for submissions, there were 74 entries, of which 52 were accepted. Of these, 34, those submitted via Vimeo, appear here. There is also a playlist of videos submitted via YouTube, and a list of videos submitted by other means, posted by festival co-sponsor BeatBots. Automaton has collected together embedded videos of Botsker Award winners and a few of their favorites.
Jedi Bot is a robot arm wielding a foam “lightsaber” that will try to attack or defend itself from human opponents. This system used the Kinect in order to track its opponent and was put together by students from Stanford.
